Product Description

2024 Solitude Autumn Bounty White Tea: A Rare Single-Plant Harvest

This tea is made from single-plant leaves picked from a single ancient tea tree during the White Dew (Bai Lu) solar term of autumn 2024. Because each tea tree carries its own genetics and micro-environment, single-plant tea has a more individual, less uniform character than blended harvests – and far less of it exists. What follows is one tree's autumn character, captured in a single limited 250 g lot.

Why Single-Plant Tea Is Scarce

  • Ancient tree requirement – the tea tree is usually over 100 years old, healthy and vigorous, and must yield enough fresh leaf for a full batch; only about one in a hundred old trees meets this standard.
  • Tiny yield – a single tree's spring output converts to only a small amount of dry tea, enough for just a few cakes, so each batch is effectively one of a kind.
  • White Dew harvest – picked in autumn when large day-night temperature swings let the tree accumulate amino acids and soluble sugars while polyphenols stay moderate.

Tasting Notes

The dry leaf is whole and fresh-looking, with a clean herbal scent and a faint fruity-floral note. Brewed, the liquor is clear and transparent with a pale golden cast. The aroma in the cup is quiet at first – herbal, slightly fruity – then opens into a subtle floral sweetness as the liquor warms. The first infusion is gentle and light on the palate; as the leaves open, the body builds and the flavour turns fresh and mellow, with a smooth, softly viscous mouthfeel. The sweet aftertaste arrives quickly and lasts well across infusions, and the finish stays clean, leaving a light mouth-coating sweetness rather than any sharp edge.

Brewing Suggestions

To catch the leaf's delicacy, use about 5 g per 150 ml of water. A gaiwan or small teapot suits it best: rinse briefly with hot water, then steep for around 20 seconds on the first round, adding a little time on each infusion. For an office cup or thermos, use 3–4 g per 300–400 ml at 90–95°C and let the leaves rest without stirring; the gentler extraction draws out the autumn sweetness with less intensity. Either way, this tea rewards patience rather than heat.

Drinking and Collecting

Enjoy it now for its fresh, layered autumn character, or store it to watch the flavour deepen as it ages. A single old tree's White Dew harvest is exactly the kind of small-lot material collectors follow: the tree, the harvest term and the year are all fixed, so what it becomes after storage can never be reproduced. Because of the single-plant rarity, each batch is limited in quantity. It also works well as a gift for a tea drinker who already owns the familiar commercial grades. Available as a 250 g lot.
