Product Description

2025 White Peony White Tea from the Mother Tree Ecological Tea Garden

This White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) is made from the 2025 season's one-bud-with-one-or-two-leaf harvest grown in the Mother Tree Ecological Tea Garden. The garden's long-established tea-tree genetics and clean soil and water give the leaf a balanced character – the fresh, downy fragrance of Silver Needle combined with the mellowness of more mature leaves.

Mother Tree Garden Rarity

  • Pure genetics – the garden's tea trees carry long-established, stable genetics, and production from mother-tree stock is naturally scarce.
  • Clean ecology – good latitude, temperature, soil and water, with no pollution, support dense buds and moderate leaf tenderness.
  • Balanced leaf structure – one bud with one or two leaves gives more body than single-bud Silver Needle while keeping a vivid downy freshness.

The garden is kept without chemical inputs, and the trees are older stock that have grown in place for years, so their roots reach deeper and the leaf carries a steadier, more complex flavour than young replanted gardens. This is the kind of material that used to stay inside the region and rarely reached retail.

Tasting Notes

The dry leaf shows buds and leaves together with a faint coat of white down. Brewed, the liquor is light yellow and clear, with a blend of downy fragrance and leaf aroma. The taste is fresh, mellow, sweet and smooth, with a subtle wild character from the mother-tree stock and a long, clean aftertaste.

On the palate, the first impression is soft and creamy, the downy sweetness of the buds sitting on top of a firmer leafy base. As the session goes on, the wild, slightly herbaceous undertone becomes more noticeable, and the finish stays clean and gently sweet for a long time after each cup. The liquor keeps its clarity across steeps, and even the later infusions stay smooth rather than turning thin.

Brewing and Storage

Brew with 5 g per 150 ml of water at 90–95°C, using short infusions and increasing the time as the tea opens. In a gaiwan, 20–30 seconds is a good starting point for the first rounds. For an everyday cup, 3–4 g in a 300 ml thermos with hot water gives a softer, more forgiving steep.

As a mid-grade White Peony with Silver Needle-like freshness, it suits drinkers who want one tea to cover both casual and careful brewing. It has enough body to take a long thermos steep without turning bitter, yet it is fine enough to appreciate in gongfu. For guests, a slightly longer steep at the same temperature brings out more of the leafy sweetness without any roughness. It drinks well now and also ages in storage; the mother-tree character tends to deepen rather than fade over time. The 200 g and 400 g packs make it a sensible everyday stock for a household.
